Christopher Schmidt - President

Christopher has been exposed to almost every aspect of the building, design and construction business all his life. His great grandfather was an architect, his grandfather was a structural engineer and his father a master carpenter. He has owned his own carpentry and commercial restoration company for several years prior where he developed a sincere interest in reclaimed materials and adaptive reuse of buildings.

Mark Johnson - Design/Sales

Mark earned a degree in Construction Management and Business Administration from Mankato University in 1988. In addition, he has 35 years of experience in residential design and construction. He has designed, built or restored all the homes on this website. He planned and built his own green home in 1976 from a hand hewn timber frame barn. The home has many reclaimed and recycled products in it which clearly reflects his commitment to green design and construction.

Gena Johnson - Drafter

Gena graduated from South Central College in 2005 with an AAS degree in Architectural Drafting. After working for Terrasol Restoration and Paulsen Architects, she continued her in Business Management and will receive a Bachelors degree in 2010. She is also pursuing a Bachelors degree in Holistic Nutrition and a certification in yoga.

Jeff Stromgren - AIA, Rice-Stromgren Architects

Jeff has been practicing architecture since 1984. In 1992 he started Rice-Stromgren Architects with Richard Rice. Jeff has been the firm since 1999.

Rice-Stromgren Architects provides full architectural services for a wide variety of projects and clients. The design of residential projects is the primary focus for the firm. This includes new homes and remodeling for projects involving reclaimed log cabins and timber frame barns. Much of the firm’s work comes through ongoing relationships that have been developed over the years by offering high quality service to clients and contractors.

One of the tools used in the design process is extensive 3-D computer modeling. This allows you to see your new home or remodeling project from many viewpoints well before the first nail is pounded.
